A Methodical Approach to Retirement Paperwork
Tessera Point is a Kuching-based clerical service. We help households and families sort, prepare and preserve the documents connected to pension and retirement records.
Back to HomeHow Tessera Point Came to Be
Tessera Point began as a practical response to something we kept hearing from people in Kuching — that retirement paperwork had become a source of frustration not because the rules were unfair, but because the papers were scattered, unlabelled and impossible to navigate quickly when needed.
We set up the practice with a single aim: to bring clerical order to a pile of documents before the deadline for doing so becomes someone else's problem. The name comes from the mosaic tile — a tessera — small, precisely placed, and part of a larger picture that only makes sense when the pieces are sorted and set.
Our work is descriptive and organisational. We do not advise on eligibility, interpret policy or provide any form of regulated financial or legal input. When those questions come up — and they do — we say so clearly and point clients toward the right office or professional.
We are based in Jalan Padungan Utara, Kuching. Most of our clients are households in Kuching and the surrounding area. Some come to our office; others prefer a home visit, which we offer for sorting appointments within the city.
Retirement documentation often spans decades, multiple employers and several government offices. It arrives in folders, plastic bags and sometimes in no container at all. Our sorting process converts that pile into a labelled, dated and described set of materials — one that the client and their family can actually work with.
We keep the scope of each service narrow and stated clearly in advance. Clients know what they are receiving before they commit, and we do not add to the scope without discussion.
The People Behind the Work
Our team is small, deliberately so. Each person handles a defined part of the process and knows it in depth.
Suraya Ahmad
Lead Records Practitioner
Suraya leads client appointments and oversees every intake session. She has spent more than a decade working with administrative records across both public and private sector contexts in Sarawak.
Raymond Fong
Documentation Coordinator
Raymond manages the preparation sessions and the structured folder systems we build for guided clients. His background is in administrative coordination, and he keeps the session notes consistent and plain.
Nora Binti Latif
Family Programme Facilitator
Nora runs the Family Records Continuity meetings and prepares the master index documents. She has a background in community education and brings a clear, unhurried approach to multi-generational family sessions.
Our Working Standards
These are the principles that govern how every appointment and session is conducted.
Documents Stay With the Client
We do not retain original documents. Everything is returned at the end of each appointment. Copies made during sessions are for the client's use only.
Condition Photography Before Handling
Any fragile, damaged or illegible document is photographed at high resolution before we begin working with it. This record is shared with the client.
Scope Stated Before Any Session
What each service covers — and what it does not — is described clearly before any commitment is made. We do not add to scope without discussion.
No Advisory Input
We do not interpret rules, assess eligibility or give opinions on financial or legal questions. When those arise, we direct clients to the relevant office or professional.
Information Handled With Discretion
Personal details seen during a session are used only for the work in front of us. We do not share client information with any third party beyond what the client directs.
Written Notes After Every Session
Guided preparation clients receive plain written notes after each meeting, covering what was covered and what the next step is. Nothing relies on memory alone.
Pension Records and Retirement Documentation in Sarawak
Pension and retirement paperwork in Malaysia typically involves records from several sources: EPF statements, employer correspondence, government pension office letters, identity documentation and sometimes land or property papers that form part of an estate. These materials accumulate over a working life and are rarely organised in a way that makes them easy to use when action is needed.
Tessera Point focuses on the clerical work that turns this accumulation into something ordered and usable. We work with materials as they are — incomplete, mixed, sometimes damaged — and produce a structured output that the client can take to the next step with confidence.
Our location in Kuching means we have direct familiarity with the local context: the offices, the forms, the typical gaps in documentation that Sarawakian households encounter. We do not operate remotely or handle documents that have not been seen in person.
We serve individuals approaching retirement, people who have recently retired, and family members who have inherited a folder of papers with little context. Each of these situations calls for a slightly different approach, which is why we offer three distinct services rather than one general one.
